Unframed art print titled "We Are One Human Race". I was looking for a children version of a diversity print to hang in my daughter's room and couldn't find any that I liked, so I decided to make my own.
Studies show that babies show preference for faces of their own race as early as 6-9 months old. This may be explained by the fact that babies spend most of their time around people of their own race and therefore build trust toward them, but it can contribute to unconscious bias that extends well into adulthood. Now I'm not claiming my art print is going to solve racial biases, but I'd like to play a tiny part of exposing our small children to different people of color by showing them diversity through art.
This illustration has 17 children total and is by no means representative of all the ethnic groups in the world. The intention is to show children that there are others of different hair and skin colors and who are kids, just like them.
